I think it was $800, I bought it with the controller, cables, terminals and
other stuff in a kit from Electric Motorsports. I think it is possible to
melt any motor given a large enough controller, a heavy mass to push, a
heavy throttle hand, hills, and not taking enough care to check motor temps.
The hottest my Perm has registered with the laser temp gage is 214 in the
rotor.

My thinking rotates around lessening of the mass you have to move, if the
motors are equal HP/Torque at the same rated amps/voltage and regen not
necessary, the weight is half for one of the motors I would go for the
smaller lighter motor. I think the Etek is a poor choice based on a simple
road test Garret did with me a few weeks back. His motor was too hot to hold
my hand on, and it was in the air stream on the swingarm. My Perm located
inside the bike up under the back of the tank was very warm but not to hot
to hold onto.

I am working on a dual motor design for the back tire of a three wheeled
motorcycle/car, Perms, unsprung weight a major consideration. I plan on one
chain (#50) using a narrow car radial like a 15" from a volkswagen, probably
a 50 tooth driven sprocket. 72V, 165ah battery pack (11.9KW, 684lb of
battery), 18 batteries, fun...
