Steve If you find the Lithium too pricey, new AGMs are not a BAD choice. Mine are Universal 12550s. In fact in the renewable energy and battery backup industry they are coming on strong. 38 lbs x 6 is 228. Not awful. With Lead prices increasing though cheap AGMs are hard to find. Recently I found new 55AH AGMs on Ebay with a $70 price but the shipping was ridiculous. Seems to be a re-occurring problem on Ebay, buyer beware. There are LIPO packs from one vendor on Ebay but you'd need 6 to get somewhere close to 50AH, and the price!
