By pushing it, I meant 15 miles might be hard to do on a 475lb bike plus rider with hills...

A 200lb 48V pack might be pushing it depending on the hills. On the controller, I would suggest maybe the 4855, or if the hills are very small the 4844, but think the 4855 would be a better fit long term. I am not familiar with that motor. Do you have any pictures of the motor? I'm looking for ok performance. I'm shooting to be able to make it to work and back - 15 miles. I don't need to go over 45 MPH. I have a few hills. I don't need startling acceleration. The chassis without motor and tranny weighs 219 lbs. The GE Motor is 65 lbs, and I figure 200 lbs for batteries, so it will back up around original weight (473 lbs with ICE). I hope to eventually change over to Lithiums, but I want to start cheap to get some real data so I know what I really need. The controller is one piece I hope to retain on any future upgrades, so maybe I should go with a 4844 or should I be looking at a 4855 or 4865? Price is an object. Good to hear good things about Alltrax. Curtis was no help in diagnosing my 1204x problems. - SteveS Shawn Waggoner (FLEAA) wrote: > Hi Steve, What do you think the finished weight on the bike is going to be > and what type of acceleration are you looking for? > > If the bike is going to be over 500lbs plus rider, the 300A controller might > be a little small, but I definitely like the Alltrax line of controllers.
