My point exactly....why worry about making landfall. Better to bend over and

Not so! Many things could cause them to fail or be encrypted. For 
example, someone sets a nuke off up there, all 'birds' die.

And it could be that a war in the locale area makes those satellites be 
encrypted. -Ken
