I carry 3 gps units on board as well as a s**t load of batteries. If the
satellites go out for long then I'd guess making landfall won't much matter.

I also note that today many folks do things that are not within the 
practice of  good seamanship, such as making long offshore passages with 
no celestial backup (sextant and tables and know how to use them)
