I did not remove the insulation from completely around the 00 buss wires
because it would be very difficult to get to the backside of the wire and I
felt it was not necessary. The connection as I did it has very low resistance
as evidenced by loads never dimming or flickering as others on the same
offsticker were switched on and off. Wrapping the offsticker wire around the
00 buss would certainly increase mechanical security but is not needed
electrically.

A spiral clamp will provide mechanical confidence, but I have great confidence
in my soldered (and I grant you this it takes some practice to get the solder
joint wetted out well and keep plenty of solder on the joint) connections.

The mechanical connection I'm referring to is the connection from the 2/00 buss
cable and the #6 or #8 wire taps. The description I understood, was to "tin"
the buss cable and "tin" the tap wire and stick them together with solder. I
would feel better with the # 6 or #8 wrapped around the 2/00 buss cable several
times and soldered or some type of approved mechanical clamp on connector and
anti-ox grease. Norm has an electrical back ground and untold experience in
ships and electricity and I consider him an authority so I don't question his
method, but from my experience, a solder connection without a wrap or
mechanical connection is possibly a problem, especially in high current
conditions or environments with vibrations or movement.
