The subject of using latching relays to control small loads on a boat is interesting. I do this myself on my boat but it is small so wiring runs are short.
On a larger boat it would be a hassle to install wiring from a remote switch to the relay. Why not use RF relay control? The biggest drawback is the power consumption of the receiver. Here are a couple of examples. http://www.vellemanusa.com/us/enu/product/view/?id=522383 (These folks have lots of nice kits ;-)...) http://www.hobbyengineering.com/SectionRF.html But here is one that uses only about 100ma. http://www.homesecuritystore.com/detail_pages/rc-10.htm Cheap, too! You could put the rf receiver by the load and control it with the tx with little disadvantages. No wiring issues, and you would still have manual control as a back up if you put in a by-pass switch. But again, if LED lights were used, it would be possible to incorperate a RF control into each light and control all of them with a simple key fob. Why not? -Ken _______________________________________________ Liveaboard mailing list [email protected] To adjust your membership settings over the web http://www.liveaboardnow.org/mailman/listinfo/liveaboard To subscribe send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The archives are at http://www.liveaboardnow.org/pipermail/liveaboard/ To search the archives http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] The Mailman Users Guide can be found here http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman-member/index.html
