The only thing I know of that comes even close was the accident that
happened when I was in "The Hunt for Red October". The tow cable of the
tug towing the mockup of our sub got snagged by a real US Navy sub,
which dragged the tug backwards. Killed two men, as I recall. Oh, and
there was that collision between a US Navy sub and a Japanese fishing
vessel off Oahu, too.
Come to think of it... US Navy subs attack Russian and Japanese vessels.
Hmm.

Perhaps it was a fullfilment of sub-conscious desire on the part of the
vessels themselves?
