Well, a hobbyist programmer maybe. But I don't have any kind of
education, formal or otherwise, in software design, computer science, or
anything like that. The point is that we'd really need at least one
person who really has some professional skill as a programmer... I mean,
I can hack some code but I at the same time I barely know how to use a
debugger...
Ok, some real talk here... it's important to know your strengths and
weaknesses. So the thing is, my brain doesn't really work in a normal
way, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage. I don't like to
brag, but I'm pretty good at figuring things out, I usually learn things
very fast, so I can just sort of jump into something and usually figure
out how things work as I go. The flipside of that is that for me it's
very hard to maintain focus on something for long. I get distracted
easily. My thought process tends to go all over the place and I get
interested in tons of new things constantly, which I then get sort of
this obsessive need to figure out... it'd be cool if I could just focus
on one thing and become great in that one thing, but I think my brain
just doesn't work that way...
So, to balance out that chaos, a balancing influence is needed, someone
or someones who are more on the practical side, who have the experience
and the knowhow, who know how to make things work and who can sort
through my crackpot ideas and say "ok, here's how we make this work" or
conversely, "ok, this thing isn't going to work" if it's needed. At the
same time, we also need the expertise on writing RT-safe code, which,
even though I'm trying to learn about it, is something that is still
pretty much black magic to me...
