Hi there, and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. It’s Peter here. Something of
interest for you perhaps that I thought I should share with you.
bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire have got a link on their webpage straight to a web cam
of the Crown Estate’s barn owl nest. The nest box is in a secret location near
Lincolnshire and the picture is updated every five minutes! You’ll be able to
get a very unique view inside a barn owl’s nest. Although, actually all I could
see was a white ball of fluff! I presume that was the baby barn owl!

I had an email this morning from J.M. Berry. They write, “Dear Peter, I am
hoping you can help me. A letter arrived this morning from a lottery sweepstake
in Spain. I have heard of things like this and all they want are your bank
details. Although it says if you want a certified cheque tick this box and
leave out bank details. But some people may put their details down and I am
worried. They say I have won 815 810 00 euros. Can you help?” Well, thanks for
getting in touch. We have looked at this problem before and some people can get
conned by letters like this. Of course, you always have to be very careful with
your personal details and never give out your bank details to anyone. Thanks go
to J.M. Berry for that note and for highlighting that problem. Thank goodness
you realised it was a scam!

St Charles Borromeo

I’m not sure if you know about this little gem or if you can remember a piece
Look North did last year about an incredible church in Hull. It’s called St
Charles Borromeo and it’s right in the centre of Hull near the New Theatre.
Well, it’s apparently the oldest post-reformation Roman Catholic church in the
city. It’s incredible inside with beautiful paintings and ornate statues. So if
you ever get a chance to take a look, then I really recommend it and there are
some photos on the internet of it as well, so use a search engine to find out
more. Well, it’s badly in need of restoration and I’ve heard about a charity
event to raise some money for its restoration. The Cottingham Singers have
decided to help with fundraising and they’re joining forces with the Arterian
Singers to perform Vivaldi’s Gloria in St Charles Church this Saturday. So good
luck to both groups performing this weekend.

Lincolnshire Show

Yes, it’s that time again. The 124th Lincolnshire Show is this week! It starts
tomorrow and we’ll bring you coverage of the show on Look North. Obviously
getting to the show can be quite tricky and there are lots of other ways to do
so without having to drive there. So take a look on bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire for
more info on park and ride and bus routes to the Lincolnshire Showground. If
you’re going, then I hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget to take your camera and
let us take a look at your view of the show. It’s the usual address of [EMAIL
PROTECTED] to get in touch.

Fuel

It’s a topical one this one, but it’s also a story that sounds like science
fiction! The latest fuel strike by oil tanker drivers has finished today, but
the cost at the pumps is still a matter of concern for many motorists. So this
story caught my attention! Scientists have found bugs that can eat waste and
excrete petrol! I keep re-reading that and it just doesn’t sound true does it?
These are not normal bugs that you might find in the garden, they are
genetically altered tiny bugs that can feed on agricultural waste like
woodchips or straw and then excrete crude oil! This bug poo hasn’t been put
into the tank of any car yet, but research is continuing. So there you go! I
don’t totally believe that yet as it just sounds completely bizarre. But could
we be buying bug poo at the petrol pumps in the future?

Well, that's it from me for now. I hope you’re having a lovely day. It doesn’t
look like the weather is going to break this week. It’s threatening to rain
even now. We haven’t had our summer already have we? We’ll have the forecast
for you tonight anyway.

Take care,

Peter
