Hello and welcome to today’s Levy Letter for Friday. I hope you’ve had a good
week. It’s been another busy one for Look North, and as always, thank you for
all your comments and stories on email, text, and our hotlines. Keep them
coming in, and if you have anything you think we should know about then get in
touch at the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you have any unusual
pictures you want us to see and maybe show on the programme then send them in
as well and I’ll have a look at them.

I’ll be taking a short break from Look North next week to get some household
chores done. It’s nice to have an opportunity touch up a few bits of
decorating, it always takes longer than you think, doesn’t it? But you’ll be in
capable hands as always, so keep tuning in and keep those messages and pictures
coming.

Brain

It’s something most people accept as fact, but now scientists have discovered
subtle genetic differences in male and female brains which might prove we
really do think differently. The research suggests that differences in
behaviour between the sexes might have biological roots rather than just social
and cultural ones.
It’s one of the big debates that never seems to get resolved, from driving, to
maths, to emotional intelligence, men and women are often treated in different
ways and assumed to have different strengths and weaknesses. Some people say
it’s just down to the way we’re brought up, and we’re actually just as capable
as each other biologically, although this research seems to go against that.
Among the differences generally accepted are that men are more aggressive, risk
taking, and better at understanding and devising systems. Women have greater
empathy with other people, and are more compassionate. Women generally also
have better visual memories, while men are better at visualising objects in
three dimensions.
Interestingly, and this might be a bit controversial, studies show that when
looking for a mate, men tend to go for youth and good looks, while women are
more attracted to status. I don’t know what you think about that.
The basis of the research is that while our brains are genetically the same,
many genes operate at different levels of activity in male and females. I don’t
know what that means, but I suppose it might explain some of the differences.
Remember, this isn’t my opinion, I’m only repeating the research!

UFO

I don’t know if you’re a believer in extraterrestrial beings, but there are a
few new converts in the Vale of Glamorgan after an unusual sighting. The
incident occurred on the 7th of June, but it’s only made it to the news today I
think. Now the interesting thing is that the sighting was made by a police
helicopter with a three man crew, which makes it a little more believable. The
helicopter didn’t give chase, and the incident has been reported for further
investigation.
The Ministry of Defence said they’d heard nothing about the incident, but of
course they’d say that, wouldn’t they?
The police say it was probably just an unusual aircraft that confused the crew,
and as there are no images of what they saw, I suppose we’ll never know. It’s
one for conspiracy theorists to get excited about, and I know I might regret
asking this, but if you’ve ever seen a UFO then let me know. I might have
opened the floodgates by saying that.

If you know somebody who’s not subscribed to the Levy Letter and you think

Well that’s it from me for this week. Have a very good weekend, enjoy the rest
of your afternoon and if you have anything planned for the next few days I hope
it goes very well indeed. I hope you can join me tonight at half past six on
