Hi there, it’s Peter here with your Levy Letter today. I hope you’re well. A
charity event here that James Harper told me about. He writes, “I just wanted
to alert you to a charity bike ride me and my brother are doing after making a
promise to my late grandma, who died from cancer. She asked for money to be
raised for Dove House Hospice to support the great work they do. So two years
on, I've decided with my brother Andrew to devise our own charity bike ride
from Leven in Scotland to Leven in East Yorkshire. It’s 400 miles and we are
doing it over four days, that’s 100 miles a day! Eeeek!!!” His words! But I
think that’s an accurate description for the challenge him and his brother are
taking on! So good luck to James and his brother for their bike ride challenge.

Big Breakfast

Here’s something that caught my eye in terms of my personal healthy eating
campaign. Breakfast really could be the most important meal of the day when it
comes to losing weight. That’s according to research. The theory is that if you
just have a small breakfast, then this could boost your cravings for food later
on in the day. The worry is that if you only grab a quick cup of coffee for
your breakfast, then you’re more likely to munch on sweet sugary snacks before
lunch. So there you go. A hearty breakfast is very good for you. Although, I
doubt that includes bacon and eggs every morning.

Pick Your Own

Well, it’s more of a case of don’t pick your own!! A fruit farm in England has
stopped doing pick-your-own strawberries, because customers are eating too much
of the fruit without paying. Well, I thought that was the point of
pick-your-own fields!! It’s one for you and one for the punnet. At least that
was how it was when I was a boy. Apparently though, the owners of the farm have
just had enough after seeing one family dipping their berries into a bowl of
cream that they’d brought with them as they picked them. Okay, perhaps that is
taking it too far!

Well, that's it from me for now. I hope you’re okay today. Keep in touch if
there’s anything you’d like to see on the programme. As we’ve been mentioning
on the programme, we’ve got our special ‘One Year On’ floods anniversary
programme next week. We’re collecting stories now from people, who are still
being affected by the floods and from some people, who are still in caravans.
We’d like to hear from you, especially if you want to share a story with us
about how it’s affected you emotionally. I’ve heard some heart-wrenching
stories from people, who are now suffering from depression, because of the
worry of having to fix up their homes. So share your tale with me. It’s [EMAIL

Take care,

Peter
