Hello there. Its Peter here. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Did you enjoy the extravaganza that was Children in Need on Friday? Were you fundraising? Colleagues from Look North and BBC Radio Humberside were at Bridlington Spa on Friday Dancing in Need. If you didnt manage to stay up all evening, Radio Humberside presenter David Reeves was crowned the winner. If you managed to get hold of tickets, thank you for all your support and many thanks to everyone who donated money.
Ho Ho Ho! It appears that Father Christmas wont be visiting Croatia this year. Ive been reading today that the Croatian government has banned Christmas and New Year parties in the public sector because of the global financial crisis. State-run firms and organisations have also been told they wont be allowed to dip into their funds to buy Christmas presents. The festive ban follows a proposal to freeze public-sector salaries next year. It is hoped that a lean Christmas will help to avoid a deeper crisis. Has your workplace put in a ban or preparing for a budgeted Christmas? Id love to hear your stories on this one. You can contact me on the usual email address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Noddy Returns The much loved Enid Blyton character Noddy is celebrating his 60th birthday this year, and to mark this occasion, a new book will be written by Blytons granddaughter. It will be the first Noddy book to appear since 1963, and will feature Noddys much loved friends, Big Ears and Mr Plod. Sophie Smallwood said it was "a great honour, if a little daunting", to take over from her famous grandmother. Well there you go, Noddy is making a comeback! Do your children still read the Enid Blyton classics or do you think children are more demanding when it comes to their literature. Let me know what you think. Weekend Telly The reality TV shows show no sign of stopping this year, as Im a Celebrity returned this Sunday, and it seems that it is still popular with viewers as 8.9 million people tuned in. The celebrities have been split into two camps, with one team winning the right to better food and facilities. Former Eastenders actor Joe Swash and model Nicola Mclean, became the first contestants to take part in the bushtucker trials. In Strictly Come Dancing, this weekend, actress Cheri Lunghi became the 9th star to strut off the Strictly dance floor. Lunghi and her dance partner, James Jordan, had to perform against Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole. However John Sergeant and his partner Kristina Rihanoff still remain in the competition despite criticism. Sergeant and Rihanoff received the lowest marks from the judges, the strength of viewers' votes were enough to see them avoid the dance-off. And finally if you hadnt heard Daniel Evans was the latest contestant to leave The X Factor. H! e found himself with the least amount of votes, along with Rachel Hylton but the judges decided to save Rachel. Thats all for todays Levy Letter. I spoke to Countdown host, Des O Connor, today on The Peter Levy show on BBC Radio Humberside. If you missed it you can listen again at bbc.co.uk/humberside. Tomorrow Ill be speaking to the current King of The Jungle, Christopher Biggins, who won Im a Celebrity . last year. Tune in from 12pm until 2pm on 95.9 FM, 1485 AM DAB or listen live.
