Hello there and welcome to the last in this week’s Levy Letter. Are you looking
forward to the weekend? I do hope the weather gets better! As I look out of the
office windows the sun does seem to be rearing its head so let’s hope it stays
like that! I hope Paul has some good news for us this evening!

Awards

The red carpet was out last night in Liverpool as the MTV Europe Music Awards
came to the European Capital of Culture this year. American stars dominated the
ceremony and took the majority of gongs home. However two of our home-grown
stars did manage to take at least a couple of the awards. Rick Astley won the
‘Best Act Ever’ award and Sir Paul McCartney won ‘Ultimate Legend’ award. Other
winners included Britney Spears, who seems to be making a successful comeback,
who was awarded ‘Act of 2008’ and ‘Best Album’ and the event’s host, Katy
Perry, also took home the ‘New Act’ award.

Doggies in the White House

I’ve been reading today that when the new President moves into the White House,
he will not only have to decide who will be in his cabinet but which puppy to
bring in to accompany the family. In his election victory speech he told his
daughters, "I love you both so much and you have earned the new puppy that's
coming with us to the White House." What sort of dog do you think would be
suitable for the new First Family? A pedigree dog or a rescue dog? And what to
call it? All manner of choices which could influence the next four years! No
doubt it will have to be well trained, can you imagine if it started trying to
bite other world leaders coming to visit?! I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Children In Need

Just to remind you it is ‘Children in Need’ night next Friday. If you want to
get involved and Do Something Different this year but don’t know where to
start, you can collect a fundraising pack from our offices in Hull, Lincoln and
Grimsby. For more information head on down to bbc.co.uk/pudsey

Weekend Telly

If you find yourself at a bit of a loose end this weekend, here are my
highlights to look out for.
It is the last episode of ‘Little Britain USA’ tonight. Have you been watching
the series? Walliams and Lucas always seem to push the boundaries with every
series and I think this one is one of the best. But I do wonder if our American
counterparts find it as funny. If you’ve not managed to see it yet, check it
out, but obviously with the younger members of your family tucked away in bed!!
The weekend schedule is still dominated by the reality TV heavyweights of ‘The
X Factor’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. It is really hard to judge who will be
crowned winner of either of these shows. Who do want to win? Have any of you
put some cheeky bets on in the hopes of a windfall? I’d love to hear from you.
You can contact me on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If you’ve missed any of the ‘Little Dorrit’ series, you can catch up with
episodes 3 and 4 this Sunday on BBC One before the next episode on Wednesday.
‘Britannia High’ started a couple of week’s back, have you managed to check it
out? It may be aimed at the younger audience but I think it is something the
whole family can sit down and watch, but you may find yourself bursting into
song afterwards!

I’ve just got time to mention that my new show on BBC Radio Humberside starts
on Monday. You can tune in at 12pm on 95.5 FM, 1485 AM and on DAB. I’d love to
hear your thoughts on the topics of the day so make sure you give me a call!

That’s all for today’s Levy Letter. I hope you will join me for Look North
tonight.

Enjoy your day,

Peter
