Well, the time to nitpick is coming (remember the e-mail about the upcoming
JTA :)). I'm in favour of dropping some of those 'community' objectives
(like knowing news groups and web site) strictly because the current
objective is so north american/anglophone centric. And what's wrong with
<insert favourite search engine here> anyway?

Not in a few lines, no :) There is some information on the process on the
web site, though:

Well, I'm still talking at the objective level so here are some examples. I
just quickly cut'n'pasted these from the online objectives. 'no promises' ;)
Keep in mind that I'm think that LPIC-1 could be used as a branch point for
developer, sysadmin, dba type jobs. Not just 'anyone that uses Linux at
work'.

Some of these objectives could be pushed up to LPIC-2 (I have mixed feelings
about moving some of them; they're just examples):
1.113.2 Operate and perform basic configuration of Mail Tranfer Agent (MTA)
1.113.3 Operate and perform basic configuration of Apache
1.113.4 Properly manage the NFS and SAMBA daemons
1.113.5 Setup and configure basic DNS services
1.110.2 Setup a display manager
1.110.4 Install & Customize a Window Manager Environment
1.105.2 Reconfigure, build and install a custom kernel and kernel modules
1.107.2 Manage printers and print queues
1.112.4 Configure Linux as a PPP client

Just dump this one:
1.108.2 Find Linux documentation on the Internet

These could be added to LPIC-1:
internationalization and localization issues
basic SQL syntax
accessibility issues
LVM and RAID
GPG and related encryption

True but package management is useful and necessary. And there are more
packaging systems out there than dpkg and rpm. LPI definitely didn't pick
'all of them'.

That said, if anyone wants to propose additional (I couldn't support dropping
either dpkg nor rpm) packaging systems or higher level ones, like yum, let me
know.

uh-oh. going to have to find someone with a credit card for that :)
