Dear David, Stewart, It's strange that you should mention hearing breathing on recordings. On all of the CD's that I have by Paul O'Dette you can hear him breathing. As for putting a sock over the mikes I think the effect would be to muffle the sound and thus reduce the sharpness of quality.

In the Dowland Pavan I can hear you breathing. I prefer the Delight Galliard, where the mikes are a couple of yards or so away. How would it sound, if you put a thick sock or similar material over the mikes to take away the edginess? Ultimately it's a matter of taste, of course, but my preference is to aim for a softer, warmer, less brittle sound. All the best, Stewart McCoy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "LGS-Europe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2007 12:50 PM Subject: [LUTE] mics arrived > Finally I've had time to buy and try out my new microphones: Rode NT55. > Listen to the first result: > > http://home.planet.nl/~d.v.ooijen/david/homerecordings_f.html > > feedback welcome - yes, I know it's almost in tune, it's a _very_ wet day > out here. ;-( > > David To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
