I don't know what you're trying to do. If this would be the "normal release process" we won't release 2.1 ever. I'm sure there will be fixes after RC2, and you will be screaming to get them into RC3 because it is nonsense to postpone them to the stable branch, because we can better butcher RC3 than 2.1.1... and so forth.
