 In part you replied:

I am so sorry to have wasted your time. I had no idea I was not using an
official released version.

I did not compile it myself. A package manager would have downloaded it for
me.

I reviewed my computer system install notes.....and as is usual, they are
very poor.

I recorded a little bit when I installed Ubuntu LTS 24, having used LTS 18
for many years.

But nothing about the LYX install, which I did when installing 24.

I will now go to the LYX web site, and follow the instructions for removing
my current LYX version and installing 2.4.

I do recall that repositories are frequently not up to date.

And I do recall having to compile some applications myself (maybe LYX) if I
wanted the latest version.

This I have always avoided. But not this time, if I have to compile, I
will....new experiences are good for oneself.

Not having an "official released version" is very scary. Who knows where
some package manager got it from. I really should know this.

Again I am sorry to have wasted your time, and I will be more careful in
the future.

Thank you for your detailed response,

Doran
