Would this work?

I thought they just follow debian behaviour here, and debian's POV is
that 2.4.1, 2.4.2, etc are too drastic changes -- one should include
only patches for particular bugs. (And to be honest, we don't do just
bugfixig but also 'improvements' in branch, so they have a point).

In any case, we lost Liviu long time ago, he used to prepare PPAs for
ubuntu. That could solve the issue to a large extent if some ubuntu user
wanted to help.

Not really, we just need to push debian to accept RC2, ubuntu will accept
whatever is found in debian testing.
Just sent an email to trigger the avalanche.

Hopefully the IM changes won't trigger too many dead-keyes crashes in
languages irrelevantto CJK.
