We have also had other people recently mention that Ubuntu LTS is
still on 2.4.0~RC3. I do not know why they do that. I understand the
desire for stability, but really. They could at least update the
minor versions: e.g., 2.4.1, 2.4.2, etc, and not update to 2.5.0.
This is probably because nobody ever asked for an upgrade. We do not
have someone monitoring LyX versions and checking they are kept up to
date on Ubuntu.
This would be a useful contribution for an Ubuntu user who follows LyX
development, does not code but wants to help nevertheless.
And if we finally get to release 2.5.0 soon, we will have to be quick
to have it included in Ubuntu 26.04. The best would be to have 2.5.1
there (the one with the obvious bugs fixed). Otherwise, we will have
to wait for Ubuntu 28.04.
I was about to send an email around about what our next step should be.
I guess there have been some crashes fixed recently, yes? So probably we
need an RC2.
