So why not look at USB laser printers? Faster, less temperamental, and _far_ cheaper to run. Can't make specific recommendations, but I'm sure someone can . . . . . .
A Samsung ML-1450? You'd need to check if it works with 8.6, though. Another option is a second-hand laser, one of the old Apple LaserWriters with Ethernet like the 12/640, perhaps. Cheap to buy, cheap to run and no need for adding a USB card.
