I haven't had any problem with HP drivers. I use an HP843c on a Mac that has
run both OS9.0.4 and 9.1

One thing I don't like is that there is no gauge to tell me when the ink
tanks are getting low. This leads me into paranoia because I've got essays
and things to write, and I don't need it running out on me the evening
before a major piece is due in. I also despise the cost of cartridges.

If I want to update the driver software to get this little software gauge, I
have to send 15 to HP for a disc containing this! I think that's insane.
They could easily make this software downloadable from their site.

On the plus side, the HP is reasonably quick and very quiet in operation. My
sister uses an Epson C40 and she says it clunks and whirrs and makes
horrible loud noises.

Last time I had to replace the cartridges on this printer it cost 50. That
really hurt. Laser printers produce such excellent output, and so nice and
quick too. I still worry about screwing the thing up by using refillables,
but again this is paranoia. I have steady hands and would like to do it. Its
just the thought of screwing up a bit if technology like this.
