If they don't want PDF, might they consider HTML?


Nope - I already asked, as that has helped me out before!


It's looking like OpenOffice might be worth a try. It's pig-ugly, but it works.


Or, you could use XAbiWord, which like OO, needs to run under X11. It's a much smaller download than OO, and starts a lot quicker. Again, not nice to look at but does everything required when it comes to handling .doc files.
