Hello The way i'd do this is by using adobe acrobat PDF's with forms so you can update the text in the form part of the PDF, far superior to mucking about with word, and of course suitable for print purposes as.
What sort of work is it? and what is it going to be used for? We usually use this method when we have small quantities of posters that have different text on them but use the same poster design. If the client has Adobe Acrobat and can produce the work with the required forms then all you need to buy is Adobe Acrobat Aproval (about $50) as this will let you edit and save already created PDFs.
