If it is Word, then you need to get software for your Mac that is
compatible with Word format documents.

MS Word v.X is the obvious one,
and guarantees pretty much full compatibility between Mac and PC. Others
that come to mind are Nisus Writer

I use Nisus writer it opens .doc documents and saves them in the same format. A great programme, and on offer until Jam 11th at $49 instead of $59. Great suppport, and constant development. This will solve you problem.

and, I believe icWord, although I?m
not sure that the latter package enables you to actually edit the
document.

A lovely reader and converter. Doesn't allow editing

Obviously you will need to send the document back in the same
format that you get it so that your client can read it when the receive
it!

Nisus writer or Appleworks are my choice. Appleworks has powerful drawing painting and spreadsheet tools too. Then comes Microsoft word. I have this too, thou I prefer not to use it, it is a good writing programme. Nisus Express is better, cheaper, and Mac dedicated.

Nisus have the programme Nisus Writer with even more functionality, but only runs under classic. The OSX version is still under development, and they say they do not rush this because it requires great care for a slick programme. What this offers is more summary tools, graphic tools, and...yes writing right to left for Arabic writers!
If later you want that when available, then they will offer a competitive upgrade.

Go for Nisus if you don't want the additional spreadsheet tools of Appleworks.
