From a friend of mine also an IT manager

no fix at the moment - panther server is meant to be better, and always works better with panther clients too
theoretically, you need to log on as the owner of the folder/share to set up the view, but i've always found that the prefs are not saved - or if they are, it appears to be random. The apple info site gives the same answer too

panther server allows you to set default views and profiles, so if you set all this up properly, it will remember views, and move them around with the user involved on a netinfo/ldap network
other thing to try is to log in as the system admin, but not root, from a client, and set the view there, then never log in as that user again

Hi guys.

Got a problem that is driving me nuts. I got an X-Serve with several shares on it and when users open a share they see it in icon view, if they set it to column view and open the same share 5 min later it's set back to icon view.

I have tried logging on as admin and change the views but no luck, tried to change the views on the x-serve itself but still no luck.

People are bitching at me for seeing it in icon view, can anyone help?

Many thanks, a desperate IT manager...
