I am running OS9.0.

If I installed OSX from the eMac disks, I think it will only do a clean
install, so I will have to back up and re-setup everything. Its an option.

I found an Apple article that says I need extra software from the card
manufacturer if I get that error message.

Problem is the Portgear card is made by Xircon who was bought up by Intel in
2001. I will continue searching.

The easiest may be to buy a new USB card. But which one works with the
Speedtouch?
