Hi Roy,
     The Speedtouch installed and worked just fine in the 8600/250 - even 
hot plugged it - with a 2 port usb card so I guess it's the OS and the 
usb version that's at fault - 1.4.1 must be too low for the modem.
     My 8600 is running 9.2.2 and usb version 1.5.5 and there's no 
problem choosing the speedtouch and script in the modem control panel - 
the tcp/ip is just set for ppp and remote access is username, password 
and a nominal 0 for dialling - connected instantly.
     So I think you will need to upgrade to 9.2.2 if you can - if you 
have 9.1 the 9.2.1 upgrade and 9.2.2 upgrade are free from Apple.
