Hi Shaun,
The snapshot is meant to be there to show the basic functionality
and look and feel of the mac aqua. As someone who never uses the
merge facility, this won't be an issue for me. For those who do, it
is a crash that doesn't affect what they have saved already.
I agree, but then how do you define basic functionality ? If you
mean just writer, calc, draw and impress, I disagree. Base is as
much part of the suite as the rest, and an essential business
component. The reason the reports module was rewritten was because
it was felt to be an important business need.
Let's use the 80%/20% rule, 80% of the people will use 20% of the
functionality. Therefore if 20% of the functionality and looks god and
works great, then 80% of the people will be happy.
The only way we can find the problems with the advanced functionality,
is if people actually use the software and report the issue.
This problem affects every platform, and everyone who is on the
development releases.
I must admit to not having tried to install the SRB with other DEV3
platform releases, so I can't confirm or deny. If it does affect all
platforms, then it is a big step back in functionality. However,
Mecthilde has said that it works with m3 (I'm going to have to wait
for my build to finish before I can test).
If you can come up with a list of known issues, I can add it to the
information on http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/aqua.html
If I can get DEV3 to stay open for more than 30secs I'll let you
know. So far, whenever I click on New Document of any kind, OOo DEV3
m1 crashes and starts the recovery service.
I'm currently using m2 here with no problems for writing a text
document. It is really snappy compared to previous milestones and I've
not yet had a crash. There are bugs there, though they seem to be more
cosmetic, than loss of saved data.
