Microsoft media video (.avi) and QuickTime video (.mov) should be thought of as containers rather than file formats. There are many different incompatible ways to encode and compress both audio and video. The particular method used for audio or video are accomplished with a program called a codec. In order to see which codecs were used on a particular .mov or .avi file, you have to get information on the file from within the program you are using to read it. For more information, you can read the following. <http://www.math.louisville.edu/~lee/macwritings/LCN0107.shtml> The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be November 26 For more information, see <http://www.aye.net/~lcs>.
