Hi Kristine,

Have you tried the update / reinstall using the recovery console to get the
installer?

To do this shut the machine down and then hold command R during start up and
make sure you hold the keys down for approx. 30 seconds,

It doesn't have to be that long but I just like to be sure it goes to the
correct place.

Then give it a minute or so for the machine to start up and then switch on
voiceover and pick the install OS X option from the utilities menu and then
follow the prompts
Let us know how that works for you.

Good luck.

Tim,

I concur with your suggestion as I have seen this sort of thing happen during
beta cycles of the OS, from time-to-time.

Scott,

Christine did say 10.12.2, so I'd assume that it's the MacOS that is causing
the frustration. It sounds to me that the Installer log is confused. There
are ways of editing the log, but it would probably be much easier simply to
find the stand-alone installer for 10.12.2 on Apple's site. Download it, then
run that installer to update your system. If you have problems, let us know.

Later..

You do not update the IOS through the App Store.

You go to settings, general, software update and then click install. YOu’ll.be
prompted for you pin, enter your pin and then wait a while, the file will
download and you’ll click install. All will complete at that point on it’s own
and it can take several minutes where the phone seems dead. Just leave it
alone once it starts to install and be sure you’re plugged in.

Hope that helps.

In a nutshell: My automatic update did not work, though I received a
notification and authorized the download. I tried rebooting I tried manual
downloading. I tried clearing my history and attempted downloading again. The
only updates shown when I go to the update tab in the App Store are Pages and
Numbers, which I downloaded weeks ago. Each time I hit “Update All” it soon
says “no updates available” — and yet, moments later, 2 updates are again
available. I am at a loss. :( Help! TIA.
Christine

P.S. I have an early 2014 11-inch MacBook Air running Sierra with 4 gigs.
