Hello there,

What type of scripts are these the plain Apple script language?

Hi, guys,

Yes, I use the Alex voice for everything, so I don't think that's a factor in
my case. However, the question of more responsiveness after one press is
definitely a factor. I only notice the delay the first time I press the key
combo in a long time. Subsequent presses are much more responsive.

I will report this to Apple.

Thanks,
Teresa

On the other hand, there are different fingers.

I would not hesitate to ask Apple for any fix you can think of, big or small.
They can prioritize things, but they will never know to fix a problem if they
don't know it exists. As to clicks, you can mute vo through the help menus
(vo-h) or by setting up a keyboard or trackpad commander to do it.

Interesting. Here's usually a delay of 3 seconds maximum. I just tried it even
without any delay. Might be because it was not the first time today.

Topic delay: I experience an annoying delay on web pages after pressing VO + a to read
from the cursor. For example to read an article on Wikipedia is no fun. It takes ages.
For me there's to much delay after full stops and commas and when a link is anounced.
Also the info how many objects a header on a web page has takes to much time for me. At
least on my german OS VO anounces the objects in a header followed by a very long pause.
Yes, I know of the Reader. But it's also annoying to hear again and again
"clickable" at the end of a line.

But honnestly: I don't dare to ask Apple for such small things as long as
VoiceOver contains the real big bugs as pdf or tables in text documents or the
VoiceOver calender issue in iOS.

All the best

Alex and Teresa,

I have found this same issue, and have this theory as well. I do not often use
the keyboard commander VoiceOVer scripts for this reason, such as opt+B for
battery, opt+M for Mail, etc. With each of these commands there is a lengthy
delay that doesn't make the command practical to use much. Once it is loaded
into memory, it then works fine. As for the voice, I use Fred on a regular
basis, and still find this delay even though the voice used for the script is
the same one that VoiceOver uses at other times.

I hope this helps.

Me too. My theory is that the script to speak the information has to
be pulled from the hard drive and loaded into ram, then the voice used
has to be looked for and loaded if it is not already being used. Does
the script use a voice that vo is not using by default? If so, I have
a script that uses vo's own speech, speeding the process a good deal.

Hi, guys,

I've noticed for quite some time that when I press right-option-t for time
as the default for the VO keyboard commander time and date, there's about a
twenty-second delay before anything is spoken. I'm just curious if anyone
else has experienced this.

Thanks,
Teresa
