Dear Clifford:
There are three problems as I see it:
1. The USGS Data source is no longer offering the data the we have all
become accustomed to. For example, I have supplied tools that convert this
data using some of the core tools from Sol Katz for some of the conversions.
These now will not work.
2. The data format has changed with virtually no notice. I was notified of
the new data format and the possible closing of USGS Data source less than a
month ago. This was not time to research the changes and make the
modifications. So, now I have clients upset and will have to place energies
where there will be no return because it appears that decisions were made
that did not take many users into account. If the commonly available
converters (such as Sol's SDTS2XYZ) were converted to the new format and
were available, you would have received no complaints concerning the format
change.
3. The available data is hard to acquire (many screens to access) and has a
slow download speed.
