Tell you what I'll do. My position here at the USGS is minor, but, if you
will post a summary of the problem. (I haven't been able to follow it all)
I do know some people I can forward it to. Whether or not they can help, I
don't know. On the other hand, they might know some one that can give some
information on it.
Also, we do have the number 1-888-ASK-USGS. You can try that.
Won't hurt to try.

Great!! My tax money is going to support some private
industries business model -- while my ability to
obtain federal data suffers -- what a bunch of BS. It
probably sounded like a good idea to the USGS in a
meeting and of course everybody in the meeting
probably had never downloaded any data from the data
depot -- So this is what we get... I have to click
twenty times to get three quads. The USGS could have
at least warned us... I could have then downloaded
the whole data set. Which is next to impossible to do
now.
I know there are USGS people out there who monitor
this list... Can anybody at the USGS attempt to
justify this?
