Bill,
Isn't the bigger issue why is MapInfo tying its technology (and by default
its user base) to a single vendor operating system?
If MapInfo are serious about offering an enterprise strength solution why
are they forcing users to select fundamental operation and development
environments that are not necessarily in keeping with enterprises
standards.
And where does MapXtreme for Java fit in with all this?
Just when it would appear that open source seems to be making an impact....

Subject: MI-L What's the best way to
get Visual Studio .NET?
03/02/04 10:01 AM
Since I'd like to be up to speed with VB .NET when MI releases
8.0, I just went over to Microsoft's web site and got sticker
shock... Visual Studio .NET Professional is $1079! And it looks
like the yearly upgrade runs about $550.
Is there a less exspensive route to getting what I need to
develop .NET applications for MapInfo? Is there a way for small
businesses to get a break on this stuff (short of buying online
from an overseas "discount" house?)
