I first ran into Rakesh around 15 years ago when he was a young firebrand grad student heavy into ultraleft communism of the Paul Mattick variety. It is widely understood that pursuing a tenured job always involves a certain amount of ideological housebreaking. In any case, there is little point in trying to defend the need for an anti-imperialist perspective here, since that is tantamount to preaching the choir. Meanwhile, I am going to be looking closely at Rakesh's badmouthing of this mailing list.
