We generate web stats daily by tracking hits, page requests, referring
sites, browsers, operating systems and even number of files/kilobytes
transferred. From this raw data we use an algorithm with an arbitrary
set of values to determine the unique number of visits to the site.
This process tracks visits to the entire site; we also have a custom
program to calculate visits to unique parts of the site (microsites).
We will also soon be able to track the response rates from email
blitzes/e-newsletters.

We have undertaken two online surveys since summer 2005 intended to
identify user needs and the relationship between the virtual and
physical visit. A questionnaire format was used with both
multiple-choice and open-ended questions, which were nested (i.e. a
specific response would determine the next question presented). Survey
was accessed from notice box that appeared on home page and prompt on
home page itself.

Hi everyone -- I'm interested in obtaining information on the type of

evaluation that people are doing of their Web sites for the Metrics &
Evaluation SIG. I'd like to know what kind of Web statistics you
collect, how you monitor the use of your content, and if you have done

online surveys or used other tools to evaluate your online content. If

you have any urls with articles or survey links you'd care to share,
I'd
like to tag them in del.icio.us.

Also, we'll have a Metrics & Evaluation SIG meeting on Friday November
10
from 12:00 to 1:30, and there will be a double session on evaluating
online products on Saturday November 11 starting at 8:30 a.m. at MCN in

Pasadena.

I hope to hear from you about your evaluation methods, and to see you
in
Pasadena.
