Gday David,
Sounds a bit funny to me, I think it would be very, very difficult (and very
expensive) to get 240hp out on an L18, I'd be pretty impressed with much
over
150 hp out of a worked L18. I have seen the Lambros exhuast rally 1600,
which
uses an L18 block, but has a billet steel crankshaft that makes it a 2.2
litre,
and it only runs on avgas (very high compression) I think it might get near
200 hp, but its hardly drivable on the street, and at 2.2 litres, isn't
really a L18 anymore..
When tuned, I found my webers (twin 40mm DCOE's) had as much down-low
torque as my SU's , but the webers breathed alot better above 4500rpm.

I'm not sure about the difference standard and SSS L18 heads, I think the
ports are larger, and the cam has long duration on the SSS, but I'm not sure
about the specs.

good luck :)

James.
