i own a mint datsun 1000 4 door and my brother used to own a datsun 1000 coupe their
real name is a "DATSUN DUO 1000"
and they came stock with 62 horse power at 6000rpm 1 horse power over the sedan(yay!)
my brother's duo had a A14 in it and it went like wet shit off a shovel embarasing a
lot of rotarys and V8's wich bring's a grin to any 4 cylinder owner the front
suspension may seem very prhistoric and the brakes seem hardly there but i reckon the
fron suspesions not bad it's the rear suspesion that the weak link it's very soft and
if you push it hard enough the front wheel lifts up easly quickly folowing by the rear
wheel and with the wrong driving it will under steer like an excel in the wet i reckon
stifen up the rear and lower it as well with reset springs and cut down bump stops and
perhaps a sway bay off a bigger car say a gemini ? then lower the front this can be
done removing the rubber between the end of the leaf spring and the lower control arm
it's bolted on by the bottom removing this is a little tricky and dangerous but it'd
one by jacking the front wheel of the ground the getti!
ng a tyre leaver then levering the spring off the rubber then wedge sumthing to hold
spring off the rubber then pull out the rubber and cut it to a small as possible the
reinstall the smaller ruber it should lower the front about an inch and a half and the
bonus is you don't lose any suspesion travell a little hard to explain but it is true
if you want to use lowering blocks 120Y wagon Ubolts are longer
an L16 is imposible with out lots of money and a stupid brain it would be to nose
heavy and it would be smaller inside the cabin and you'd need a new dif it's a little
much hard work if you ask me i say use a worked A14 or a turbo'd A14 with a celca 5
speed you power to weight ratio would be mad and top speed would be 200km/hor even
more my brothers did 210km/h with a 4 speed so that some food for thought unfortunatly
it my brother decide to drink and drive and wrote it off by rolling it 3 times and
hitting a power pole i might suggest a roll cage ther no to safe
