We went the other way and insulated the fuel pipes with insulting wrap,
rather than the exhaust. Seems to have reduced fuel evaporation
considerably, but I suspect not completely.

I have wrapped an extractor system in what I am sure was an asbestos
wrapping 30 years ago (that's a worry).  In that application the pipes ran
near a fiberglass footwell and I wasn't too thrilled to have them exposed so
close to it.  It worked very well, but I wouldn't use it now.
