Tim,
I think the FJ is a much stronger engine and I would use it if you are
looking for all out grunt in a car where the extra engine mass is not
important. If the engine is being fitted to one of the lighter body
Datsun/Nissans then the CA is a much better option in terms of bang for
buck without too much weight to cause handling complications.

Dont get me wrong "BOTH ENGINES ARE EXCELLENT!". You need to choose the one
best suited to your vehicle mass to maintain some reasonable weight balance
between front & rear axle weights.

In terms of Kw/Kg engine mass the CA is hard to beat and can be made very
reliable. I notice someone else mentioned the resemblance to the RB
engines. In fact the GTR valve train components fit straight into the CA
engines.

So lets open a can of Nissan WHOOP-ASS boys! Yeeeeeeee Haaaaa!

Respectfully Yours
Feral Errol.

Listers
I'm just looking into different engine options, and something I'm trying to

get some opinions on is whats a better option between the CA18det and a
FJ20det, I know more about the FJ, but not so much of the CA, I have been
told their crappy plasticy and all, but others tell me they have a lot of
potential and are almost as good as an SR, plus their closely matched on
the
kw scale I've read. So anyone got any info and/or personal opinions of the
two, I myself lean towards the FJ at the moment. Thanks to those who will
reply,
Tim
