Hi Folks,

There's no problem with this method except you can't legally run the surge tank in the engine bay as it's probably regarded as a fire hazard. It's got to go under the car or in the boot. If you have a 510 with the fuel return line fitted you can use it as your hp feed from the surge tank to the fuel rail and then use the smaller line as the return. You connect the swirl overflow and the engine overflow via a T piece to the original tank return. Connect the LP pump (bluebird Hitachi or Nippondenso are good) to the tank outlet line to the surge tank. This system will feed 351 injectors on an FJ so I see no reason why it can't be used to feed any of the popular turbos.
The only down side of this method I've found it to be noisy and also high quality fuel lines must be used to keep the fuel smell down.

Option 2 is to fit an intank pump from our ever popular R31 to the 510 tank. This is a good option as it is quiet and no fuel smells.

regards

Terry

Geordie,
First check the flow rate of your auxiliary transfer pump through the low pressure filter and fuel lines you have in place. The pump should flow at least 2 and preferably 3 litres per minute through the lines. If they wont flow this then replace them with 3/8 bore copper or steel lines. Fit the surge tank (swirl pot?)in the engine bay. Use a VL turbo or V8 efi fuel pump if you can find one cheap. A good high pressure fuel filter to use is the VL turbo fuel filter.
Normal fuel pressure is approximately 3 bar  (45 psi) and is raised to up to 4 bar to increase the flow rates of the injectors for more power.
Run your discharge from the pressure regulator relief line back to tank to minimise fuel heating
Hope this helps a bit,
Cheers
Feral Errol

No problem.  My next question regarding my Project Nissan Mission..  It appears that I require a EFI fuel pump to deliver something line 40-60psi of fuel through the fuel rail. I assume that the bluebird pump is inadequate for the task. So I am tossing around several options.  1. Rip the bluebird fuel lines out and stick in bigger & better ones, replace existing pump with a EFI pump. or 2. Leave it all there, install a surge tank in the engine bay to take about 1 litre of fuel from the standard pump, and install an auxillary pump which is capable of delivering from the surge tank.  I already own the auxillary pump so that is looking like to me to be a better option. I am on a real tight budget now, I have spent my engine-swap budget already so I can't afford much more...  What do you think is my best option?

Geordie,
Yes I did thank you heaps. I have been lax in not sending you a thanks for that (Insert the word Johnny H has so much trouble with)**
I was pretty impressed with some of the add ins as well.
Once again thanks Geordie.
