1/4" line are too small for any decent hp flow for a turbo other than a very
stock T25 feed an A14 you might get away with it. Are you sure what's under
the bonnet is a surge tank like the fuel line to the carbie comes out of it.
If you can fit a proper surge tank and hp pump under the bonnet you can
getaway with small lines as long as you have a decent high flow lp pump your
system will work no problem, it's just the safety factor that I don't like
so I would never advise you to do it that way. If it was that easy we would
all have done it.
Sydney must have 100's of places to get a surge tank, you'll find them
advertised in any Fast 4's mag.

I'm don't own a 510. It's a bluebird, it runs 1/4" lines from the tank and
same for the return.
There is a small surge tank fitted in teh engine bay, but it's only a small
black plastic number, and is probably great for carbi engine, but not for
efi.
I was thinking that I could get away with leaving the 1/4" lines as they are
with the bluebird pump on the tank, and putting a surge tank in teh engine
bay, hidden from prying engineers, and I have in my hot hands a 3/8"
electric pump that looks like it's up to the job, I shall check the flow
rate on the weekend. If it's enuf to keep the pressure up to the injector
rail, then I'm sure this will suffice for a quick squirt down the M4 every
day. But I wanted to know if I was doing a dumb thing, or If I really needed
to spend some more money & stuff around getting it done properly..
Next question, Where the heck do I find a decent surge tank in Sydney?

The problem with option 2 is that you will need a swirl pot in your tank
which the efi will feed out of. (unless the 1600 tanks are really-really
well baffled) If not, when you go around a corner maybe with 1/4 a tank
or less (or possibly more) your car will starve of fuel and stop running
for a bit (not fun),just like a fuel cut...
