Andy,
A Stanza 5 speed box is "sort of" a bolt in to a 510 I guess when compared
to a long box conversion.
On a manual you reverse the rear xmember so straight edge is rearward, 1" or
25mm spacers are required, redrill xmember to accept Stanza mounting.
Auto is much the same but the spacers required are 5/8" or 16mm but as I've
only done the conversion once on an auto I can't recall if the auto xmember
is reversed to clear the fin on the bottom of the Stanza extension housing,
in any case the straight edge goes rearward the same as the manual and if
this is reversed then so be it.
1600 tail shafts are the same length for auto and manual, although different
universals are used on the Australian (light blue or green) tail shafts.
"Bolt in" is sometimes a loosely used term around here in regards to
conversions, akin to easy. (:-

Subject: Stanza 5 speed
Dear list,
I always got told that a stanza 5 speed was a bolt in job into a 1600. Is
that a bolt in job in a manual 510 shell? Is it different when it is going
into a auto 510 shell? My mate Duncan has had to space his crossmember down
about 15mm. Does everyone space their gearboxes? Will the auto tailshaft
be the right length? Thanks peoples.
Andy.
