Andrew,
Check the condition of the dissy cap and the rotor button. If you are
backfiring it may be tracking across your dissy cap or may be cross firing
on plug leads.

yeah ive tried different coil and lead combos, its also backfining into the
intake, but i havent changed cam timing?
