I ran my lowered 89 automatic pulsar in a couple of autocrosses...got a good
result too...came 3rd or 4th (I didnt find out because I didnt stay the
whole day)...the front sway bar (hollow type) snapped a few weeks later.
Guess it couldn't handle the rough track and being thrown sideways. I
learned how to make good time on the autocross track...I kept the wheel spin
down to almost zero...which meant 1st gear was a no-no...1st to take off
then 2nd for the rest of the course. The viscous LSD on the front of the
pulsar probably gave me an advantage too I guess. It was quite a fun day
out.
I have grown to HATE lowered cars. I find absolutely no enjoyment in good
handling through surfaced roads, and most of the surfaced roads these days
are too rough to even drive normally with a lowered car. Everytime my car
hits the tinniest bump it thuds like you've just jumped it 10 feet in the
air and the A pillars are starting to make cracking/creeking noises now.
I saw a brand new lowered Honda Civic the other night driving through
surfers and there was a bump right across the road and this guy in the Civic
had to slow down to a stop almost and take the dip in the road on an angle
going into the other lane, so he wouldnt tear the body kit off.
I probably notice the bumps a lot more since I'm fairly tall, and they give
me sore back/neck. I saw a guy in a corolla the other night in my rear view
and his sunglasses were at the same level as the steering wheel, so I'm not
sure how he saw where he was going. When I drive I am looking OVER the rear
vision mirror and to use it I look DOWN at it. (Very hard to see oncoming
traffic incase you are wondering.)
