What a shocker of a day it was on the Saturday! Despite this the crowds
were unbelievable.
I picked up a 5 speed box for my daughters Mazda by lying on a couple of
door trims in the river flowing under the car I was stripping. Despite
these conditions, I was smiling all the way home, until I pulled in the
drive and the Mazda oil light flicked on and stayed on when the engine hit
idle. Checked the dipstick - full. Since then it always shows low oil
pressure at idle when its warmed up. I am going through all the
possibilities as I fully rebuilt the motor only 6000 k's ago. Jammed
pressure relief valve, loose oil pick up, faulty switch?

Despite checking it pretty carefully, I think it has a very slightly bent
crank, which has worn out the new front main bearing, despite still running
and sounding fine. The crank suffered a heavy impact when my daughter hit a
tree head on in the previous shell and smashed the timing cover and even the
oil pump, which is internal in the sump, by driving the crankshaft pulley
back onto it. Mazda have no idea about simplicity and accessibility. I
think I will be swapping cranks and reshelling the mains at the same time as
I fit the five speed.

Have you checked out the new stock at Pick a Part?
