You seem to have value for money and price permanently linked together

They are not the same thing...

There are expensive new cars that give good value for money and there are expensive cars that give very poor value for money. You may not be a new car buyer, but there are lots and lots of them around! I pinched the quote anyway so if you really want to argue, then go argue with the COTY writer at Wheels magazine.

Malcolm,

'new car dollar' not 'used car dollar'

- Tom

PS How many people in NZ are employed in the local automotive industry?

Used car prices, well you are spot on.
1989 nissan laraul from $300nz
I know a guy that brought a real nice(if they are)1987 bluebird with the
LD20(2)$500nz(cheap runner)
R32 GTR is still $32,000nz 1989-95 same price.
R34 4 door 2000 model $18,000nz (only 2000cc)still looks good.

R32 $2000-$15,000 depending on how hotted up.

Its quite funny because when I was in NZ a year ago Fords and Holdens
(especially performance ones) are quite rare (probably due to the price
difference between the imports from Australia and Japan).
This seemed to make them stand out much more with so many skylines and
supras buzzing around. Plus you need to be doing well in NZ to justify
an Aussie car .

I think the New Zealanders don't understand the difference in owning an
import here. With this new turbo falcon I'm even impressed with the
offering the Aussie market is getting now.

I don't know why I am getting offended here, usually I am bagging the
aussie cars.. nissan do cars so much better and the recent release of
IRS in the VT commodores (such new technology!!!) and the engine
technology offered is a joke, but it isn't as viable here to drive an
import here as there is a marked depreciation difference between our
import and Aussie built cars.

Speaking of depreciation.. how much is a $20,000 car worth in 3 years
time in NZ... lol

Still the fact you can walk in and buy a factory backed new GT-R for $80
or $90 is pretty good. (too bad its work $50,000 when you drive it out
of the showroom). And the 200sx we get here is a joke compared to the
185kw version from Japan....

What about when the supercars came over to Pukekhoe (? spelling) just
a few weeks ago. Pretty fast taxis!!!!
These taxis are now doing better times than the works GTR's were doing
;-)

Gee this is getting wanky.
Of cousre its not a Falcon GT ,cos they go to slow and dont
handle,What falcon ever has won a race outside of ozzie or NZ?..

Get with the program,,

Malcolm
P.S
Bathurst is a total JOKE,,supercars Ha ha holden and ford DONT MAKE
SUPERCARS.THEY MAKE TAXI'S.

-----Help me,

Don't get me wrong - I'd buy one if I found one for sale - but
what is so special about a P510SSS ? Let's face, they're NOT a
Falcon GT (where stock original is worth more than modified and
big name people invest mega bucks in them). All I see is a couple
of small SU type carbys on an L16 with a bit more compression and
a great looking dash. Interior is nothing special, wheels & brakes
are the same, same floor shift 4 speed as the standard 510 etc..

I am aware of supply vs. demand, but even in today's special
events such as Targa Tassie and Classic Adelaide, Datto people are
calling their cars H510SSS with L18, even though they are P510s
(originally fitted with L16s).

I see some of these bullshit prices floating around for
P510SSS equipment that's not that special and yes I'm confused.

Rick, are you missing the SSS rocker cover (with three full ribs)?
Maybe I didn't quite pick it up in the photos. Nice original find
anyway.
