Balancing half shafts is not a big deal but lightening them - that's interesting, so is the combination of 180B shafts and a R180 (may be the diff housing was sourced from a 240Z) I'd give them to Cam for an hour or two, we'd soon find out how good they are. You mentioned swapping the shafts around on a lowered 1600 - can't say I'd recommend doing this but lowered 1600's do put a lot more strain on the rear drive train especially if you run a diff with side axles, trunnion type seems to cope with a lot more deflection (I think that's the correct term) The problem is that a pair of unis don't like running more than about 15 degrees out of the horizontal plain - same problem immerged in the early days with gearbox conversions and the tailshaft unis until we all got wise about it, fortunately CV rear ends don't suffer the same fate.
