And therein lies the lesson Jeff Don't run stuff on raceday that u haven't already tried beforehand. I have mucked up so many racedays over the years from doing things like that. My experience with Optimax in my Datto was exactly the same as Terry described. Once the grunge cleared out it was fine. I wouldn't use Optimax in Qld now tho cos it varies way too much. On one tankful my engine will ping and on the next it wont.... I use Unleaded round town and Ultimate for cruises, trips and racing. I've never seen this Mobil 8000 but on Terry's say so, if its available I would certainly give it a go. Did u have fun anyway? Any other Dattos there? Drop a note to the list before the weekend when u are racing cos sometimes Ozdatters may be able to come and watch. Have u had a run at Morgan Park yet? I haven`t heard of Optimax causing starving problems (but have heard that it can damage rubber hoses/components).   Drain the tank and blow out the lines with compressed air ( just make sure you disconnect hose from carby end), replace the fuel filter and try again.    If you want the best filtration use a metal cased filter to suit an EFI system. These filter down a lot further than the normal fuel filters.
